Click to watch the Free Enterprise Alliance’s ad running across the nation. It will educate Americans about the misnamed Employee Free Choice Act’s job-killing potential as legislators head home for the August recess.

According to research by Dr. Anne Layne-Farrar, the bill’s card check provision and binding arbitration language could lead to a reduction in employment of anywhere from 600,000 jobs to … well, millions.

That’s a cost that we can’t bear in any economy, let alone the tough times our nation faces now. That’s why there can be no compromise on a job-killing bill like the Employee Free Choice Act.

    John Hampton says:

Does this group think the American people are stupid? We are sick and tired of rhetoric like this. It insults our intelligence. I am a true patriot and have served my country in more ways than one. I don’t care who you are, I don’t tolerate my fought for rights being robbed from myself and my country. That’s why I do my best to read proposed legislation for myself–in no way would the Employee Free Choice Act lead to a loss of jobs. It protects the American workers’ rights to form a union, IF they V-O-T-E to do so. Where I come from, that sounds a lot like democracy. So the question I have is why are big $ groups like this “Associated Builders and Contractors Free Enterprise Alliance” spending so much money campaigning so hard against the act? What do they stand to lose should it pass and what do they stand to gain if it doesn’t?
This ad is based on a downright lie and those old scare tactics. And those things have never represented MY AMERICA. But fellow patriots, don’t take my word for it. Like I always say, read it with your own two eyes, use the brain the Good Lord gave you and then decide for yourself. -John

So did you read the study by the economist the ad cited and included in our post? Does your economics background outweigh the author’s?

    Billy Hoyle says:

EFCA will do to companies that have been organized by unions what unions have done to Detroit.

The binding arbitration provision in the legislation is the real deal breaker.

The increased costs and productivity losses as a result of unionization will lead to job losses and slow economic growth.
